Boys' Mini 7s Football Finals 2019

Well done to our terrific boys' Mini 7s footballers who reached the final again this year and lost out in heart breaking circumstances!

Boys Football Mini 7s

First off in the group was a Bohermeen side. Kildalkey settled into the task and performed admirably, with some fine teamwork providing the basis for a great win.

Then it was onto the second match versus Rathfeigh. Conor's goal put Kildalkey 3 up at the break but when two Rathfeigh goals put them ahead by two pointe, things looked ominous. However, Conall arrived onto the scene and his late goal and point put Kildalkey into the semi final.

The semi final saw Kildalkey's best performance. Two early points put Slane up but this saw Kildalkey roll up their sleeves and get stuck into the challenge. Some outstanding football saw Kildalkey score four goals before half time and effectively put the game to bed.

Then it was onto the final with St. Paul's Ratoath. In what was a terrific game, the sides were level at half time, 2-3 to 3-0. Brilliant work from Kildalkey saw them stretch into a four point lead but two quick goals from St. Paul's saw them into a three point lead. With a minute left, Thomas and Jamie combined to allow Thomas to score the equalising goal. Straight away, Ratoath came down the field and goaled. Kildalkey came back up the field but in an agonising twist of fate, Jamie's shot hit the post and went the wrong side of the net.

So heartbreak again but the boys can feel very proud of their efforts. This was an even bigger achievement considering they were missing several people through injury and both Conor and Caemerhon had to come off in the final through injury. So well done to the boys and hopefully the sun will shine on them in the hurling finals!
