Senior Infants

September in Senior Infants

We've been very busy in Senior Infants during the month of September. One of our topics was 'school' and we worked in small groups to create a mini-project on our school community.

In Drama, we met Freddie the Frog on our imaginary walk in the forest. Freddie is now in our classroom and we made some frogs during Art to keep him company.
We also made some beautiful brolly pictures to brighten up our hallway.Beautiful Brollies

June-Causey Farm!!

Senior Infants went on their tour recently to Causey Farm. They had a fun packed day from start to finish. The tractor and trailer ride to the obstacle course in the bog was a big hit, as was the hay maze later in the day! The children enjoyed all of the days activities which included feeding the animals, blowing giant bubbles, ringing the wishing bell and milking the 'cow'. The bus was also great fun!!

One of our topics for May was 'transport'. We learned about different types of transport both today and in the past and we even conducted our own traffic survey at our school! We pretended we were inventors and we designed our very own modes of transport with very interesting results!! We then created these using our junk art materials. Here we are at work!

We also really enjoyed learning about Captain Capacity in Maths and estimating and measuring using different containers.

April-Fluffy the Lamb!

There was great excitement earlier this month when Isobel's Daddy, John brought us in a very new little visitor! Since she had no name, we came up with some ideas and had a class vote. The name 'Fluffy' won - we think it really suits her!

We began our Aistear based Integrated Learning Groups this month with Ms Browne.  We all had great fun at the dentist! Teacher and Pat even had regular check-ups! Here are the boys and girls at work and at play!

Senior Infants really enjoyed doing their mini group projects as part of our work on the 1916 Rising. Along with our Ireland flags they also created a lovely window display!
