Sixth Class

Volcano Artwork

Fourth class did some great art work recently, following on from their work on Pompeii and volcanoes.

Using paintbrushes and straws, they painted backgrounds with their paintbrushes and then mixed red, yellow and orange paint with straws by blowing them together.

It was a crazy interesting experience but the artwork was terrific!

Well done to all our artists!!

St. Brigid's Day!!!!

Today, 1st February, the fourth class worked on St. Brigid's Cross, it being the feast of St. Brigid.

St. Brigid's Story.

A pagan chieftain from the neighborhood of Kildare was dying. Christians in his household sent for Brigid to talk to him about Christ. When she arrived, the chieftain was raving. As it was impossible to instruct this delirious man, hopes for his conversion seemed doubtful. Brigid sat down at his bedside and began consoling him. As was customary, the dirt floor was strewn with rushes both for warmth and cleanliness. Brigid stooped down and started to weave them into a cross, fastening the points together. The sick man asked what she was doing. She began to explain the cross, and as she talked, his delirium quieted and he questioned her with growing interest. Through her weaving, he converted and was baptized at the point of death. Since then, the cross of rushes has existed in Ireland.

The fourth class then made their own crosses, using straws instead of rushes. Look at the results below. Didn't they turn out well!

Intel Supply Reach Challenge

Last week, the fourth class had a visit from Intel as part of the Supply Reach programme.

Six volunteers from Intel came to the class and explained how STEM works and the process involved.

They then let the class design their own car with Lego. Eoghan's car was deemed the winner and thus the prototype.

The class then went down to the hall and developed their own production lines.
