In a tenacious match, Kildalkey started well with a superb goal from Caemerhon. In what was a tight game from start to finish, Lismullen got an equalising goal but terrific play from Brandon and Charlie set up Ben for a crucial goal. Fine points from Charlie and Sam, along with one from Brian put Kildalkey into a four point lead at half time.

The second half was a tighter affair. Kildalkey would score only two points, a free from Charlie and a wonderful score from Ben. But it was the defence's time to shine. Tenacious defending from Seán P, Seán Mac, Shay and Thomas along with superb wing back play from Jamie and Cian meant Lismullen were held to five points themselves. When Lismullen rattled the crossbar from a last minute free kick, Kildalkey were only one point to the fore!!

Congratulation to all the team. This was Kildalkey's first ever final win in football and they were made work hard for it by a terrific Lismullen team. Our two captains made great speeches and then it was back to Supermacs! Thanks to all the supporters who came along too, we had great support there today!

Well done to the boys on an historic victory!!

Winter League Runners Up

Hard luck to our fourth and fifth class team who lost the Winter League final on a scoreline of 3-3 to 1-4.

Boys Dangan

In what was a superb game between two well matched teams, Dunderry's goalkeeper proved to be the difference between the teams, denying Kildalkey's forwards time and time again.

Medal Pres1

The first half saw the Dunderry goalkeeper pull off point blank saves from Ciarán in the very first minute. Afterwards, Dunderry availed of a strong wind to post 1-3 without reply. At half time, things looked bleak, particularly when Dunderry grabbed a goal straight after the resumption.

However, Kildalkey rallied in the second half. Cian, captain for the day, posted 4 points from frees and when Aaron goaled with five minutes left to play, the comeback was on. Dunderry can have their goalkeeper to thank for coming between Kildalkey's forwards and his goal on numerous occasions in this period.

Medal Pres3

However, it wasn't to be and a late goal from Dunderry put a gloss on the final score. Kildalkey can be very proud of their performance, particularly in the second half. Cian, captain for the day, was imperious at midfield. Thomas, Jamie K, Conor B fought manfully at the back, whilst James C, Ciarán and Aaron were always a threat going forward.

Medal Pres2

Well done to Dunderry and hard luck to Kildalkey!
