Boys Bow Out in Semi Final
The boys bowed out today in the semi final against Kentstown.
Kentstown started well and were three goals to the good after only a few minutes. Kildalkey were a little shell shocked with this start and tried their best to get into the game - however, Kentstown held the upperhand for the rest of the first half. Their two midfielders in particular were powerhouses in the centre of the field.
At this stage, the worst was feared for Kildalkey, having shipped five goals by half time. However, showing great spirit and commitment, they promised at half time to give it their all for one last half. They tore into Kentstown after the resumption, with the sixth and fifth class boys leading the charge. Great point from Niall, Adam and Sam were added to with goals from Niall and Lorcan/Evan. They outscored Kentstown in the second half, which was a fabulous achievement, given the circumstances.
Kentstown deserved their victory on the day but our boys can hold their heads up high, having put in a spirited and and fighting second half performance. Well done on a good year for gaelic football in the school!!

The boys play their semi final against Kentstown on Thursday, 17th October in Dunganny. They are leaving the school at 2.20 and the match is starting at 3.00. It should be comleted by 4.10 and the boys back to the school at 4.45.

Girls' Last Gasp Win!
Well done to the girls who yesterday secured their passage through to the Division 2 semi finals.
In an enthralling game, it was nip and tuck throughout. Debbie's two goals helped Kildalkey stay in the game against a very strong Oldcastle outfit. Down at half time, the game was in the melting pot right up to the finish, when a last gasp goal from Lauren (almost the last kick of the game!) secured the win for Kildalkey, on a scoreline of 3-5 to 2-6.
Well done to the girls and their trainers - we are looking forward to the semi final now with glee!!
Boys In Thrilling Match
The boys' team played out a thrilling game yesterday, 10th October, in Athboy.
Played in great conditions, Kildalkey got off to a great start, hitting 1-2 to no reply, with Conor netting the goal. However, a resurgent Athboy side battled back to lead at the break, 2-3 to 1-3. A goal from Niall, ten seconds into the second half, set us up for a great second half which went this way and that until another goal from Conor and a point from Niall looked to have secured the win for Kildalkey. However, into injury time Athboy managed to work the ball down the field with which they won a free and levelled the game, 3-5 to 2-8.
With teams both level on top of the group, both teams elected to play two bouts of extra time, lasting five minutes each. A goal in the first half for Athboy left Kildalkey needing a goal and though they laid siege to the Athboy goal, it wasn't forthcoming with Athboy prevailing on a scoreline of 3-5 to 3-9.
Kildalkey can be very proud of their efforts, in what was a skilful and uncompromising encounter. They now look forward to a semi final against Kentstown. Well done to all involved!!
Great wins for Kildalkey N.S.
Our boys' and girls' football teams had great wins in their football competitions this year.
The girls beat Athboy in a thrilling game on Thursday evening. Playing some great football, they completely overwhlemed the Athboy team, beating them on a scoreline of 3-1 to 0-0. Debbie contributed hugely from midfield, scoring 2-1. Well done to the team and their mentors Miss McCann and Miss Pykett. We look forward to their next match against Oldcastle next week.
The boys beat Oldcastle in a thrilling match on Friday evening. When Oldcastle scored two quick points straight after the throw in, things looked ominous for Kildalkey. However, they responded in style scoring five goals before the break, with their full forward in particular doing serious damage in that first half. Ciarán scored a hat trick before the break and with further goals from Ryan and Niall, the half time score was 5-0 to 1-4.
Further good play in the second half, with a goal from Adam and points from Niall, Sam and Aaron put Kildalkey further ahead and two late goals could not prevent their victory on a scoreline of 6-4 to 3-8. Some great play from their forwards, supplanted by good defending from their backs and tireless running from their midfield, was the ground work for their fine victory. Well done to all the players and we look forward to their next match against Athboy.
