Well done Evan!

Well done to Evan Geoghegan from our Hurling team last Spring.

As a result of the boys winning the Mini 7s last year, Evan was picked to play in Croker Park. By the luck of the draw, he was selected to at the All Ireland final!

Wearing the Kilkenny jersey, Evan played in front of 80,000 people and looked very comfortable in Croke Park!

Well done to Evan on a great performance and hopefully it won't be his last time playing in Croke Park!

3rd/4th Class Match v Baconstown

Our third and fourth class boys took on Baconstown recently in a challenge match.

baconstown3  Played in glorious sunshine, the two teams had a great battle in Baconstown. Thanks to some superb frees from Cian and a brilliant score from play, Kildalkey lead three points to no score at half time.

The second half was a more open affair. Even though Kildalkey got some brilliant goals from Cian and James, three goals from Baconstown won the match.

Well done to all twenty two boys from third and fourth class who played in the game and put in such a great performance!

Mini 7s Joy!

The boys and girls of Kildalkey N.S. were both out in action this week in the annual Mini 7s competition.

The girls played their camogie Mini 7s on Monday, 11th April in Trim in near apocalyptic type conditions. Played in torrential rain, the girls played Gaelscoil na Bóinne first. Despite scoring two great goals through Holly and Laura, they were unlucky to lose out after playing a great game. Kildalkey then proceeded to beat St. Mary's Trim, with some great performances all over the field from goalie Orlagh to the forward line of Robyn and Chloe and beyond. They can be very pleased with their performances on what was an absolutely horrendous day for camogie.

The boys played on Tuesday. First up were Kilmessan. Goals from Evan and Robbie ensured the win was Kildalkey's. Next up were St. Paul's Ratoath. In what was a rip roaring first half, a late goal from Robbie ensured Kildalkey held a one point lead at the break. Some superb performances from the backs Matthew, Brandon and later Joey meant Kildalkey emerged victorious.

The final game of the day was between Kildalkey and Dunderry. In the first half, some sterling work from Sam kept Kildalkey in the game, along with powerful performances at midfield from Brian and Patrick. In the second half, with the game up for grabs, Evan scored early and often to ensure the win would be Kildalkey's. Charlie and Shane came on to help see out the game and add to the scoreboard. In the end, Kildalkey were deemed the winners and Robbie and Evan were presented with the cup!

Well done to all the boys who played today and put in some superb performances and avenged for last year's defeat in the final. They can be very proud of themselves. Thanks also to the parents who came to the game and supported the team. Finally, Evan was selected as the player to play in Croke Park this year. Maith thú Evan!!

Cumann na mBunscol Round Up

Our girls and boys have been in action recently in hurling and camogie matches.

The boys defeated St. Paul's Ratoath and St. Michael's, Trim in their first two matches of the championship. With big matches to come against Cannistown, Dunboyne and Gaelscoil na Bóinne, let's hope they can keep up their current form!

The girls took on Gaelscoil Éanna to open their campaign. Trailing at half time by 2 goals to 1, the girls rallied in the second half and won the game by 3.1 to 2.0. They then took on a weakened Gaelscoil na Bóinne today, 28th April and won well. They have three more games in the group stages with big matches against Kilmessan, Boardsmill and Ratoath to come.

The best of luck to both teams in their next few matches.

Sporting Success

Well done to all our teams who did extremely well in the last week!

First off, our boys' soccer team won through to the last 5 in the MDL soccer. They defeated five teams on the way, including Baconstown, Ballivor and Bohermeen. The final stages are on Monday. The best of luck to them!

The girls also made it out of their group, with some great wins en route! Unfortunately, they then losr the quarter final. However, they can be very proud of their efforts, as they were in a very tough group of which they did well to come out of!

The boys' mini 7s teams made it through to the last 12 in the county. In their regional group, they defeated Rathmolyon, Ballivor and Rath Cairn to make it through! The county finals will be held on Tuesday, 5th April.

The girls' mini 7s teams didn't make it out of their group. They lost tight matches to Bohermeen, Gaelscoil na Bóinne and Rathmore before ending on a high by defeating Ballivor.

Well done to all the teams on their great performances!
