Boys' Football Match v St. Anne's

Well done to our boys' football team who started the new Cumann na mBunscol campaign on a high with a hard earned win over St. Anne's NS, Navan.

In a very competitive match, the boys did very well to be leading at half time, perhaps fortuitously as they hadn't played their best football. Two goals from Ryan helped them into that half time lead of 2-1 to 1-3.

However, in a tight second half, the boys produced some excellent attacking football paired with good defensive qualities. Working the ball up from the defense, they put over some beautiful scores to ward off the St. Anne's team. The final score of 3-8 to 3-5 ensured that the points were going to Kildalkey.

Well done to the boys on a successful first outing - hopefully there will be plenty more results like this throughout the year!

Croke Park Debuts

Well done to Ciarán, Gavin and Lee who played in exhibition matches at halftime during Meath's two matches in Croke Park this summer.

Gavin played at half time in the game between Meath and Kildare while Lee and Ciarán had the privilege of playing at half time in the Leinster final between Meath and Dublin.

Well done to the three boys on their Croke Park debuts - hopefully, they'll represent Meath there again in the future!

Meath Carlow Representatives

Congratulations to Conor, Holly, Lauren and Sean who played at half time in the Meath and Carlow championship outing.

They all put in great performances in two tight encounters - a lot closer than the actual senior game!

Well done to the four students - they did our school proud!!

End of Year League

Well done to the boys and girls who competed in the end of year school leagues this year.

We had 70 children who competed in the leagues from 4th, 5th and 6th. This year was football and we had some great matches all through the divsions. The semi finals were held on Tuesday, 24th June with finals on June 25th.

Eventually, we were left with two teams in the Cup final. In a very evenly fought match, Ciarán's team got the better of Conor's team on a score line of 6-4 to 5-4. It was a superbly fought game with great skills shown - well done to both teams on a fitting finale.

Finals Heartbreak

The Cumann na mBunscol finals didn't go the way of Kildalkey today, 14th June. Despite two excellent performance, Kildalkey were unable to prevent Baconstown and Trim retaining their titles again.

First up was Baconstown at 1.15. Kildalkey started off extremely well scoring a smashing point through Andrea. However, two goals from Baconstown put them firmly in the driving seat. It was then that Kildalkey showed their mettle. Scoring some excellent points through Lauren, they pulled the deficit back to two points at half time. Shortly after half time, Lauren kicked home a goal to bring the sides level - however, a scrappy goal from Baconstown put them back in front and, try as they might, Kildalkey could not get another score. It ended 1-4 to 3-1, Kildalkey getting more scores than their opponents but just not enough goals. Brilliantly lead by captains Danielle and Andrea, both of whom were outstanding today in the humid conditions, the girls can be very proud of their efforts.

The boys then took on the team who defeated them last year in the corresponding fixture. Starting brightly, the Kildalkey boys then conceded two quick fire goals, leaving them eight points down after ten minutes. However, they boys like the girls before them, showed their determination and clawed the deficit back to five at half time (2-4 to 1-2), with some brilliant points from  Niall and a great goal from Ciaran. Conor was showing his strength at full back, catching and clearing some brilliant balls. Niall got a great point after half time to cut the deficit again but unfortunately, the next score was a Trim goal which left too big a mountain to climb for Kildalkey and, try as they might, they could not close the gap. The full time whistle sounded, leaving the final score 3-8 to 1-3 in Trim's favour.

Well done to both teams on reaching the finals and for doing so well today. Whilst not every final can't in victory, both teams can hold their heads high in the way they performed and battled in the humidity today.
