County Representatives 2018

Kildalkey N.S. has been very well represented lately on sporting fields by its students, who have represented Meath!

First, Jamie and Ben played on a representative Cumann na mBunscol team against a representative team from Louth. The boys won all their matches, putting in some fine performances!

Jame then represented Meath in a half time exhibition match between Longford and Meath!

Not to be outdone by the boys, the girls had their own representatives!

First, Caoimhe played on a Meath Cumann na mBunscol team who played in an intercounty football blitz in St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra - and won it!

Meath Camogie

Finally, Grace and Leah played on the Meath Cumann na mBunscol representative team that participated in the camogie blitz in Portlaoise. They also did extremely well, defeating Laois, Kildare and Dublin.

Well done to all our GAA stars - we are very proud of them!

Mini 7s Hurling Runners Up

Hard luck to boys hurling Mini 7s team who reached the final in today's hurling Mini 7s.

They played Donacarney and Kells in the group stages. Settling well, they put in two great performances to see off the challenge of both teams and make the finals. With captains Evan and James to the fore and Cian and Thomas putting in trojan work in midfield, they played some great hurling at this juncture. Caemerhon and James C picked off some beautiful scores to accompany the tight defending by Conor, Patrick and Jamie.

In the final, they encountered Kilbride from Trim. In a tight first half, a goal from Cian put them up at half time 1-0 to 0-2. A point apiece from Thomas and Cian put Kildalkey up by two poins but with time almost up, heartbreak was to be Kildalkey's lot as a late goal from a free put Kilbride a point up. A late 65 for Kilbride put them two points up and that's how the game finished, 1-4 to 1-2.

Hard luck to Kildalkey but they can feel very proud with how they played, with some great skill and teamwork evident throughout every game it took to get that far. They'll come again!

Girls Soccer Performances

The girls' soccer teams took part in the MDL soccer tournament on Tuesday 13th March.

Both teams performed admirably and had some great wins!

The sixth class team won two matches, with Caoimhe providing the firepower to go along with the great defending and teamwork from further back the field. Boyerstown were to prove their nemesis however, and in two tight games they ended Kildalkey's hopes. The girls can be very content with their day's work however!

GIrls Soccer1

The fifth class team started the day with a terrific win, Meadhbh and Ellen firing home the goals in a 3-1 win. Despite three more hardworking and energetic performances, the girls were unable to add to their wins column.

GIrls Soccer2

Well done to both teams on their performances!

Mini 7s Camogie

Well done to Mini 7s camogie team who took competed in the Mini 7s camogie competition in Dunganny on Monday, 27th November.

Captained by Emma, they first took on an exceptional Baconstown team. Baconstown proved too strong for Kildalkey, though Kildalkey can take pride in the way they battled throughout.

Next up was Longwood. With the scores level at 0-0 at half time, Kildalkey were to the fore in the second half. Goals from Leah, Anna and Sarah earned them a three goal win.

The last match was against Ballivor. With a wind behind them in the first half, Kildalkey hit the front with scores from Leah putting them into a 2-2 to no score lead. Ballivor battled back in the second half but great defending from Lucy, Grace and Abbie coupled with great goalkeeping from Orla kept Ballivor at bay. A last surge from Ballivor saw them score 2-1 without reply but Kildalkey held out for the win.

Well done to the Mini 7s camogie team for their great performances today in very cold conditions!
