The school had a visitor last Tuesday morning - Santa came to visit the Junior and Senior Infants and to hear what they wanted for Christmas!

Hard Luck to the Boys
Hard luck to the boys' football team who lost their semi final today, Wednesday 22nd October.
Playing Kilbride in Kilmessan GAA, the boys got off to a great start with a goal from Robbie in the opening few minutes. When Ryan added another free, it was looking good for Kildalkey. A sustained period of pressure for Kilbride yielded five points for them and Kildalkey's only response was a point from Ryan. Just before the break a monster free from Lee saw Kildalkey go into the lead again and when Jake's shot right before the half time whistle arrowed its way into the back of the net, Kildalkey were four points to the good.
The second half saw a rise in the wind and a rise in Kilbride's play. A fortuitous goal levelled the play and from there on, Kilbride seemed to be able to get their scores the easier. Some beautiful points pushed them into a three point lead. Kildalkey refused to die, and following some sustained pressure, found themselves level after a stunning goal from Jake, truly worthy of winning any match. However, Kilbride just had that bit more in the tank and further scores from them left the final score 1-12 to 3-3.
Kildalkey can be very proud of their performance. They battled right up until the final whistle and even when everything was going against them in the second half, they fought constantly and were almost rewarded. They contributed richly to what was a great game of football and can hold their heads high. Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach!
Goodbye Fr. Oliver
Kildalkey National School would like to say Goodbye to Fr. Oliver Devine.
The local parish priest for the last nine years, Fr. Oliver has been an integral part of the parish and indeed the school for all that time. Many students have passed through the school having received Holy Communion from him, having received the Sacrament of Penance from him, some worked with him in the Church and all would have had dealings with him.
The Chairperson of the Board of Management for that period, he oversaw many changes in Kildalkey National School. He was Chairperson when the plans for our new school were developed and finalised. An enthusiastic and affable presence always in the school, he will be sorely missed.
This morning, the school gathered to wish Fr. Devine the best of luck in his new role in Westmeath. Miss Pykett presented Fr. Devine with a gift from the school staff and Cormac and Moya presented him with a git from the altar servers. Mr. Fox spoke warmly of Fr. Devine's contribution to the school and thanked him for all his efforts. The whole school, along with many parents and locals were present to thank Fr. Devine.
We wish Father Oliver all the best in his new parish. Go raibh míle maith agat, Father.
