Girls football success!
l
Well done to the 3rd & 4th class girls who played their first match last Friday 18th. They played a terrific game against Dangan NS girls here in our school pitch. It was a tight game, with both teams giving it their all. In the end, Kildalkey were triumphant, winning their first game! Commiserations to Dangan who put up a great fight. The girls team look forward to playing their next game against Boardsmill later this week.
Girls Soccer Performances
The girls' soccer teams took part in the MDL soccer tournament on Tuesday 13th March.
Both teams performed admirably and had some great wins!
The sixth class team won two matches, with Caoimhe providing the firepower to go along with the great defending and teamwork from further back the field. Boyerstown were to prove their nemesis however, and in two tight games they ended Kildalkey's hopes. The girls can be very content with their day's work however!

The fifth class team started the day with a terrific win, Meadhbh and Ellen firing home the goals in a 3-1 win. Despite three more hardworking and energetic performances, the girls were unable to add to their wins column.

Well done to both teams on their performances!
Mini 7s Hurling Runners Up
Hard luck to boys hurling Mini 7s team who reached the final in today's hurling Mini 7s.
They played Donacarney and Kells in the group stages. Settling well, they put in two great performances to see off the challenge of both teams and make the finals. With captains Evan and James to the fore and Cian and Thomas putting in trojan work in midfield, they played some great hurling at this juncture. Caemerhon and James C picked off some beautiful scores to accompany the tight defending by Conor, Patrick and Jamie.
In the final, they encountered Kilbride from Trim. In a tight first half, a goal from Cian put them up at half time 1-0 to 0-2. A point apiece from Thomas and Cian put Kildalkey up by two poins but with time almost up, heartbreak was to be Kildalkey's lot as a late goal from a free put Kilbride a point up. A late 65 for Kilbride put them two points up and that's how the game finished, 1-4 to 1-2.
Hard luck to Kildalkey but they can feel very proud with how they played, with some great skill and teamwork evident throughout every game it took to get that far. They'll come again!
